Where Daniel Betts Stands
A chemist-turned-attorney, lifelong hunter, and commonsense conservative. Here’s how Daniel will fight for TX-21.
Secure the Border & Stop Fentanyl
Daniel worked as a chemist before becoming a lawyer—he understands how synthetic drugs like fentanyl and meth are made, moved, and detected. That expertise drives a two-front strategy: cut off the poison at the source and heal our communities here at home.
Daniel will:
- Push to designate Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations and sanction foreign suppliers of precursor chemicals.
- Fund smarter interdiction: better screening at ports of entry and rapid field-testing equipment for local law enforcement.
- Expand access to proven addiction treatment, church- and community-based recovery, and naloxone; speed innovative, clinically supervised therapies for PTSD and addiction for veterans and first responders.
- Oppose amnesty of every kind in solving illegal immigration in this country.

Reliable Texas Energy & ERCOT Independence
Keep the lights on, bills down, and Washington out of Texas’ grid. Support natural gas today and a new wave of advanced nuclear tomorrow—while keeping ERCOT decisions in Texas, not D.C.
Daniel will:
- Block federal rules that threaten reliable gas generation.
- Fast-track small modular nuclear projects and protect ERCOT’s autonomy.
- Pilot innovative nuclear solutions (e.g., floating molten-salt reactors) to power coastal cities and ports.

Water Security & Flood Resilience for the Hill Country
After recent floods, prevention and rapid alerts—not bureaucracy—must lead. Bring federal resources for gauges, warnings, safer crossings, and insurance reforms that protect homeowners.
Daniel will:
- Expand real-time river gauge networks and geo-targeted alerts via FEMA/NOAA and county EOCs.
- Prioritize grants for low-water crossings, levees, and diversion projects with flexible local matches.
- Reform NFIP and encourage flood-resilient construction in fast-growing areas like Hays and Comal.

Defend the Second Amendment & Keep Schools Safe
Daniel is a lifelong hunter and responsible gun owner. The Second Amendment protects self-defense and liberty, and he backs locally driven school security that actually prevents violence.
Daniel will:
- Oppose federal bans on commonly owned firearms, accessory bans, licensing schemes, and registries.
- Increase trained SROs and voluntary guardian programs; strengthen parental rights in school safety policies.
- Advance research and early detection for serious behavioral and personality disorders so interventions happen before tragedy.

Pro-Life & the Constitution
Unapologetically pro-life. Abortion policy belongs with the states—not the federal government—consistent with the Constitution’s enumerated powers. Support mothers in crisis and life-affirming alternatives.
Daniel will:
- Oppose federal mandates on states.
- Defend states’ rights to protect life without interference from unelected bureaucrats and judges.
- Expand support for adoption, family services, and research improving fetal and maternal outcomes.

Protect Ranchers & Property Rights
Hill Country landowners deserve respect—not federal overreach. Favor Texas-led, voluntary conservation and a true all-of-the-above energy approach that doesn’t punish reliable power.
Daniel will:
- Fight land seizures and overreaching conservation easements.
- Promote made-in-Texas wildlife and water programs, not top-down dictates.
- Prevent “green” subsidies from distorting markets against natural gas and nuclear.

Keep America Strong: Navy, Space & Cyber
China is racing to dominate the seas and space—America must stay ahead. Modernize the fleet, harden space assets, and make Texas a national hub for Space Force and defense innovation.
Daniel will:
- Build a more distributed fleet with unmanned vessels and modular “plug-and-play” systems.
- Mandate open-architecture middleware and layered defenses against drones and missiles.
- Defend satellites, enable rapid-launch replacements, and grow Space Force/NASA missions anchored in Texas.

Smart Growth: Water, Land, and Community Balance
As the Hill Country grows, water, flood control, and rural character must be protected. Balance ranching heritage with suburban realities through infrastructure that conserves, stores, and reuses water.
Daniel will:
- Invest in recharge zones for the Edwards and Trinity aquifers.
- Fund rain capture, storage basins, and flood-to-flow systems that cut risk and preserve supply.
- Ensure both rural ranchers and growing suburbs have a voice in planning.
